Celebration for Luke Ceballos was Inspiring!

AUSTIN, TX – June 27, 2011 – Thanks very much to everyone who came out to the Blind Pig Pub in Austin last Saturday night to help us celebrate the life of Luke Ceballos.  It’s always inspiring when a group of people gather together and join forces to help out someone in need. That’s exactly what happened on Saturday!

Several hundred of Luke’s friends and colleagues joined his mom Geanette, dad Jose, brother John and sister Emily on the rooftop bar overlooking Austin’s infamous 6^th Street for the “Inspiration Celebration”. It featured a silent auction of over 85 custom designed skate decks as well as framed prints, autographed memorabilia and raffles featuring tons of great swag from industry supporters. Wahoo’s Fish Taco’s provided the grub and the Raspa’s supplied the live reggae music. RAT Tour regular DJ XBoyRD held it down between sets thanks to the crew at Skullcandy.

Various artists created all of the decks featured in the auction. They were created across the region during the 2010 and 2011 RAT Skate Tour events. Sector 9 Skateboards supplies the decks and local artists in each market have donated their time and talent, knowing that the final product would be used to help someone in need in the skate community.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, we were able to raise $2000 between the auction, raffle tickets and donations at the door. Then RAT Tour presenting sponsor, Scion automotive matched the donations allowing us to cut Luke’s family a check for $4000 to help cover expenses associated with the accident.

Ceballos was hit by a drunk driver in September of last year and tragically died from his injuries on 10/10/10. As a sales rep for Antics, Luke was always passionate about the skate industry in which he worked. He was respected and loved by everyone who knew him, always involved with sports and lived a full, but way to short, life.  He loved his friends and family, skateboarding and riding his motorcycle.
